Dinghy Section

Dinghies img 0962The Club has a thriving and enthusiastic Dinghy Section. Racing takes place from the main Shoreham club house in the river Adur alongside the new footbridge over slack water at high tide from April to December, and in the Canal at Southwick January to March. There is also social sea cruising in Summer.

Both club houses have changing room and shower facilities.

SYC racing caters for a mixed fleet from Toppers to Phantoms or faster, with various ages and experience.

There are generally two races during each sailing session lasting approximately half an hour each, with the faster boats completing more laps of the circuit than slower boats in the fleet. Average lap times are calculated using PY handicaps.

Laser-SwimRichard Jackson very kindly took these photos of the racing in Southwick Canal during the SYC Cooler Series 2012. It was windier than it looked and there were many excuses from those who decided to take a paddle... you know who you are!
